AMI - App Game Project

During my 2nd year of college, we were assigned to create a visually appealing app for a module project.

My group decided to create a kids game, based on the movie E.T.

The premise of the game is to look after a small alien after it crashes in the player's garden. The goal of the game is to care for the alien and build a strong bond with it through mini-games and caring for it. The aim is provide a fun and rewarding game for children, but also teach them about the responsibility of caring for another living being.

One of my tasks was to design the alien creature, which we called "AMI" - meaning friend in french.

Since the target audience are children, I decided to avoid creepy and scary alien designs. Instead, I focused more on cute designs.

The first design is based off Stitch from Disney's Lilo and Stitch - the premise being certain parts of it's body changed colour to reflect it's emotions.

The second design I based off the alien designs from South Park. This was a simpler design, in which we found it easier to vary it's expressions.

In the end, the group ultimately decided to go with the second design, and so using Adobe Illustartor, I created the aliens basic emotions, from happy to sad, anger to love and confusion to surprised.

With the alien design now finalised, I know moved on to the storyboard for the opening of the game.
